Reading order

Welcome to Latest Thinking. This guide is for people joining the organization, including people who do not write software. You do not need access to source code or technical files to follow it.

Start with a real example

Open Latest Thinking and choose a video. Notice the researcher, the question they explain and the original research linked on the page. Then try the LT Player showcase to explore chapters, captions and sharing.

Follow the story

  1. Meet the organization: What is Latest Thinking? explains the product and the relationship between Latest Thinking and Welink.
  2. Meet the people: People and roles explains researchers, coordinators, administrators and editors.
  3. Try the two main journeys: Signing in explains how someone enters the app; creating a Publication follows their first recording.
  4. Follow one video: How a video gets published connects recording, processing, approval and the public website.
  5. Find each application: Application directory explains why each component exists. Open its page for examples, screenshots and links.
  6. Look up unfamiliar words: use the glossary, especially LT Work, Publication and Publication Plus, ORCID and DOI.
  7. Prepare for your own role: Getting access explains what to ask the team lead for. Environments distinguishes the practice environment from the live service.

There is no need to memorize everything. Come back to the diagrams and examples when you encounter a new term. Sections labelled For maintainers contain optional evidence and technical detail, not prerequisites for understanding the guide.

Some decisions are still open. Those are recorded in Open questions; you are not expected to resolve them on your first day. If something in the guide is unclear, tell us what would help.
